Welcome Back!

This has been a very busy and short week. We are working hard remembering all of the school rules. This week we have been reviewing many of the things we have already learned. We also have been discussing the Feast of the Epiphany. Your children should be able to tell you all about it.

We have started to practice handwriting, as well as continuing to master the alphabet sights and sounds. This week we began Clipboard Club. The students walk around with a clipboard copying words they see. Some of these words will be backward or scrambled, even vertical. This is because the children are working so hard on making the letters, they aren’t concerned with the position; at this time we aren’t either. Using playdoh and cutting paper with scissors will help strengthen your child’s hand muscles.  It is a good idea to practice holding pencils, crayons and markers the correct way when coloring at home.

Please remember it is important that your child wears the correct uniform, follows the routines and respects authority. Proper shoes are necessary for safety and also girls may not wear fingernail polish.

Also, it is a state law that each child brings a snack every day. If your child goes to daycare, please pack and label two separate bags. Lately some of the students have been telling me they don’t have a snack for Pre-k or are confused about what they should eat.

Thank you everyone for all the lovely Christmas gifts and wishes.  I am so grateful for all the wonderful gifts. One of the great things about teaching at St. Joachim is that I always am blessed to enjoy Christmas through the eyes of my students. Thank you for sharing them with me, and have a very happy, healthy 2017.
